[ Jack grunts, some small sign of displeasure, but doesn't push the issue further. Klaus doesn't want to give up his source for whatever reason. It might be frustrating, but it's also not the reason that they're here. ]
Never said that. [ He closes his eyes and furrows his brow, takes a sip of his drink, and then focuses his attention back on Klaus. ] You're the one who set up this meeting, so out with it.
I believe we could be of use to one another. I seek to find any and all information on a certain psychotic doctor. He tortured my daughter and I, simply for his own pleasure and experimentation and I believe I owe him something in return. What this has to do with Cassius and other AI's is nearly incidental, but answers are what I require. And what I'm seeking.
[ Well, once Klaus gets started he's at least quick to cut to the chase and lay everything out on the table. As much as Jack doesn't like that they have to talk about this in public, there's not really any way of getting away from that. Their apartments aren't necessarily any safer in a surveillance state like this one.
It sounds as if Klaus' experience with Johann had been similar to Jack's own, which at least means that there wasn't anything personal to what happened. Not that Jack had figured as much.
There's one thing in the story that doesn't make much sense, though, and Jack frowns as he asks his question. ]
Your daughter?
[ He's pretty sure he hasn't seen anyone among the Displaced younger than a teenager, and it's hard to imagine that Klaus has a daughter that old. ]
( Klaus supposes they could neurally discuss this, but Klaus knows better than to speak loudly. Plainly, on the other hand, is the only way Klaus knows. He threatens, he lays it all out. He makes everything very clear. It's the only way anything ever gets done. )
My daughter. Hope. She arrived here before me. And I, a time before that, too.
[ That doesn't actually answer Jack's question in any way, though that probably just means that he needs to be more direct with how he phrases it. Maybe it doesn't matter, but given that he still has memories of a fake daughter itching at the back of his mind when he lets his guard down, he can sort of imagine what the experience must have been like for Klaus. To have his daughter in danger. ]
How old is she? [ Jack's fingers swipe idly over the tabletop. ] I don't think I've run into her.
[ Regardless of her age, being put through the wringer by Johann couldn't have been good. It's no surprise that Klaus wants revenge. ]
[ She's sixteen, but doesn't live with him? It seems like there's probably some baggage there, but Jack isn't going to touch on it. The point is that Klaus and his daughter both got screwed over by Dr. Grey, and he wants revenge. Understandable. ]
All right, so, what do you want to know? [ Jack leans back in his seat and watches Klaus carefully across the table. ] And did you find out anything yourself?
[ It makes sense for this to be an equivalent exchange of information. ]

( He does lean back, though. Keeping his eye contact. )
I mean I am resourceful. Are you not?

( And she's not the most social. She tended to shy away. )
