[ with transportation to Thesa Station still being down (thanks Orbiters) and his distaste for Cree and the Gilded Cage... there's no clean way to meet with 76. but still... ]
How are things down in Wyver?
[ because "shitshow" might be an understatement for Olympia. ]
About the same. There's rioting on the streets, reenactments of murder, and to top it all of, a strange mist seems to be fanning the flames.
If I didn't know better, I'd say some "higher powers" are invested in total war.
[ it's not that he dislikes war per se, but it should only be carried out by the will of the people. not by some "system" trying to manipulate others. ]
[ Which higher power, is the question. Ocelot seems to be implying that the Orbiters are responsible for all this, but 76 has to figure that at least some of it is simply due to the bloody history between these two nations. But how much of that had been cultivated, too? ]
What's caused the rioting? And do you have any idea what the mist is?
[ well, maybe not the Orbiters themselves, but... ]
Your usual run-of-the-mill tensions.
It's something unnatural. Similar to the plague that was going around, but I don't think it's Cree. From what I've seen, he isn't too happy about this turn of events.
That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if the Institute has a hand in this.
As much as anyone knows about him. I haven't talked to the guy personally in a while, but this just doesn't seem like something he'd do. His last attack was about bringing the countries together through conflict, not tearing them apart.
I don't like it. Evras also has his hands in the Guard, and it makes me wonder how much power our esteemed Empress really has. Or if she's in on the whole thing.
[ overthrowing the Olympian elites would really be in the best interest of everyone.]
[ It's a fair question, and 76 can assume that Ocelot probably wouldn't be asking just anyone. They've recognized each other as kindred spirits of a sort, even if they'd occupied very different spaces in their home worlds. They'd still lived similar lives, or at least more similar than a lot of the other refugees. ]
It depends on what you think that loyalty will get you. It's going to make it harder for you to come into Wyver territory, but on the other hand, staying wishy-washy about it might just make both nations hate you.
I've dealt with worse. But we'll see how things go. For the time being, I'm just trying to make sure the whole city doesn't go up in flames.
What we need is a larger network to share intel with. Something that can stand on its own enough even if a few of us end up temporarily going back into stasis.
[ not that he's super happy with the idea, mind you. but what else can you really do? the options are slim. ]

[ Yeah, "shitshow" works just fine in this situation. ]
How about up there?

[ Okay, maybe he's a little bitter that Ocelot got away from that job with zero consequences. ]

[ it really was a miracle he wasn't caught. but he was sure his luck would eventually run out, if he kept playing both sides like this. ]
Not to mention, rumour has it that he's recruiting for another investigation into the Institute. If nothing else, he's less sanctimonious than Voss.
[ though he trusts the two of them about equally. which is to say, not at all. ]

[ If there's one thing that 76 can agree with Cree on, it's that a close eye needs to be kept on that place. ]
